Biography

Vik Sabarwal, MD earned his medical degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (Medical College of Virginia) in Richmond, Virginia. He also completed his undergraduate degree at Virginia Commonwealth University as part of a prestigious combined medical program graduating with Honors and Magna Cum Laude in Biology and Chemistry. He completed his residency in Urologic Surgery at George Washington University in Washington, DC which included training at the National Institute of Health/National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Sabarwal has a wide breadth of interests in the urologic realm including complex kidney stone disease, oncology (penile, prostate, testis, bladder, kidney, adrenal cancers), erectile dysfunction, urethral stricture disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH or enlarged prostate), overactive bladder, interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome, and infertility. He is trained in percutaneous nephrolithotomies, urethroplasties including those with buccal mucosal grafting, BPH procedures, penile implants, vasovasostomies (vasectomy reversal), laparoscopy, as well as minimally invasive robotic surgery using the latest Da Vinci® Xi platform.

Dr. Sabarwal has immense experience in performing no-scalpel vasectomies. He takes pride in making sure the procedures are done in a quick, efficient manner and that the patient is comfortable.

Dr. Sabarwal has participated in significant academic research on topics including prostate cancer, genital reconstruction, pediatric genitourinary malignancies, and overactive bladder. He has authored and co-authored multiple, journal articles, reviews, and book chapters. His research has been presented at various national urology conferences.

In 2017, Dr. Sabarwal traveled to the country of Guyana and performed charity urologic surgery for indigenous patients who otherwise would not get care.

Dr. Sabarwal believes in ensuring his patients understand their disease processes and have superior outcomes. He values communication and the improvement of quality of life.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Sabarwal enjoys spending time with his family, travel, physical fitness, reading and community/international outreach.
