We are pleased to announce that Dr. Vahan Kassabian has joined Advanced Urology as the Director of the Atlanta Prostate Center and Advanced Therapeutics. This prostate center of excellence empowers patients from across the country to receive the latest, most innovative treatments combined with compassionate, personalized care. He specializes in complex oncological cases while providing novel therapies for patients with advanced cancer. He is a nationally recognized surgeon and pioneer in HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound), a truly minimally invasive procedure for localized prostate cancer. He is also considered a key opinion leader by industry for treatments in prostate cancer as an advisor and consultant.
At the University of Montreal, he served as clinical instructor of urologic oncology before transitioning to assistant professor of surgery at Emory University. It was at Emory that Dr. Kassabian was awarded "Teacher of the Year" for his role in the advancement of education. He also served as Chief of Urology at the VA Hospital in Atlanta.
Some of Dr. Kassabian's former notable appointments include Medical Director of Georgia Urology, P.A., and member of the Cancer Committee, Peer Review Committee, and Contractor Advisory Committee of CAHABA. He currently serves as the Urology Consultant for Palmetto, the regional Medicare carrier, Contributing Editor for the publication "Reviews in Urology" and is a reviewer for "Urology Practice."
Voted one of Atlanta Magazine's Top Doctors in 2018, he has extensive experience in clinical research, numerous national and international presentations, publications and book chapters, mostly related to cancer and prostate disease.
Dr. Kassabian holds memberships in the American Urologic Association, the Canadian Urological Association, LUGPA, and the Society of Urologic Oncology. You can find Dr. Kassabian practicing at multiple Advanced Urology locations starting in early 2019.
