- Painful bladder syndrome - PBS is a chronic inflammation of the bladder wall, often featuring bacteria that doesn't respond to conventional antibiotic therapy. PBS is more common in women than in men. It can be a long and tedious process to diagnose PBS correctly because it shares similar symptoms with other conditions such as cancer, kidney problems, vaginal infections and neurological disorders. PBS is often debilitating causing significant discomfort.
